About

In 2025, I was a judge for the AICP Post Awards in the Motion Graphics & Design category.

Intro:

I'm Kyler Potter, a filmmaker and post-production leader specializing in video editing and motion graphics, based in Chattanooga, TN. Over more than a decade in the industry, I've worked on projects of every scope, for clients ranging from small brands and independent creators to Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies and network television studios.

For the last 7 years I have led post-production at Humanaut, an independent creative agency and production company that's landed on Ad Age's A-List as one of the nation's top 10 agencies and Adweek's 100 Fastest Growing Agencies, making national ad campaigns for brands like Liquid Death, Dollar Shave Club, Big Green Egg, Organic Valley, and Secret.

As Post-Production Supervisor, I oversee 100% of Humanaut's editing, VFX, and finishing work: from building the department's process and workflow from the ground up, to managing and mentoring a growing post team, to expanding our in-house capabilities and offerings. Working out of Humanaut's 6,000-square-foot studio has given me the opportunity to be hands-on with the work and learn to iterate quickly and adapt to project needs.

Clients:

I play an active part in helping shape each project we produce, starting in creative and pre-pro, where I help develop ideas with an eye toward how they'll come together in production and post. On set, I'm often serving behind the camera as technical director or director of photography, making sure what we capture sets the team up to succeed once we're in the edit bay. And when we get there, I lead the team through the post process reviewing cuts, giving notes, and stepping in to execute some of the most technically demanding or creatively challenging work myself.

Always testing new tools, staying fluent with emerging technologies such as generative AI has helped me innovate and streamline workflows, opening up new creative possibilities. But far from tech for its own sake, every new tool only earns a place if it serves the creators and the creative vision. No matter the project, the budget, or the technology involved, I bring the same adaptability that comes from years of doing more with less, tight budgets, tighter deadlines, and a lot of creative problem-solving along the way.
